L.A. Noire Speedrunner’s Guide

Any% is a part of almost every speedrun for any game and is the staple that every beginner speedrunner will always start with.

In any variation of L.A. Noire Any%, the strategies for being fast include

• Skipping all the chasing and shooting using the action skip feature unless otherwise noted
• Answering questions in that we get a faster response from the person of interest
• Only inspecting clues that lead to a location or new lead
• Having our partner drive us everywhere we go.

Any% will also be the shortest run of all the main categories. There are categories on the speedrun.com leaderboards that split each main category by desk, they are useful for practice, however they are not considered as a main category.

The Splits

When running and practicing speedrunning with L.A. Noire, it is recommended to use Livesplit to record your times and track your progress.

When creating the splits, Livesplit automatically can enable the loadless timer which is what the times are compared as on the leaderboards. We use loadless splits because of how long the loads can get and can be longer depending on your PC setup.

It seems more important in Any% as your main transportation throughout is traveling through many loading screens to get to your next destination.
